Maximizing the Facebook Timeline

May 24, 2012

It may surprise you to find out I don’t spend much time on the Facebook page of SoLatina.com. Nothing against the site it’s just not one of my usual haunts. So I’m glad an article on MarketingProfs.com about how to maximize the Facebook timeline layout led me there. Anyone who uses Facebook to reach customers — or in… [Read more…]

A Lesson From Martha Stewart About Your Show

May 14, 2012

Whether you love Martha Stewart or hate her, you have to give her credit, the woman has been very successful. So I was intrigued by a recent Future Buzz article on lessons marketers can learn from her. Out of seven lessons, one that stood out to me had the headline, “Tap the Innovation Crowd” which focuses on how Stewart… [Read more…]

The Wrong Way to Mix Baseball with Social Media

May 7, 2012

This weekend I was watching the Cubs play the Dodgers — OK I was dozing on the couch while the Cubs game happened to be on — when I heard the announcers read a promo for the Cubs first ever, “Social Media Night” at the park. Curious, I went to the Cubs Web site for… [Read more…]

Doing a radio show (or any other job) five or six days a week can be a real grind. I don’t mean just showing up and reading liner cards in between saying what song you just played and what song is coming up next. I mean doing a show with great content, audience interaction, social… [Read more…]

We Need Radio DJ Barbie

April 20, 2012

I wasn’t looking for this, I swear. I had watched a Wall Street Journal video about the reality of self-driving cars and while I was ruminating on the implications the player rolled over to the next clip about the state of Barbie on her 53rd birthday. What surprised me is how similar Barbie is to… [Read more…]

Be a Curator for Your Audience

April 13, 2012

If you think of a curator as being an old librarian telling you to hush or socially awkward museum worker talking about the unique forms of ink used in the 1700′s to paint pictures of trees you need to think again. With so much information being posted online everyday, curating is being redefined by people who  filter… [Read more…]

April 5, 2012

Buried deep in the Pew Research Center’s annual State of the News Media 2012 report is an interesting statistic about how people consume news; and it’s one that bodes well for mainstream mediums like radio. What first grabbed my attention was this little gem, “Just 9% of digital news consumers say they ‘very often’ follow news… [Read more…]

April 4, 2012

I just discovered GoRadio.com a site that features four channels of programming described as interactive digital magazines with live radio streams. The channels have unique names like “#allin,”"Meta,” “Downhome” and “Indigo” and, while they parallel familiar radio formats, have their own unique spin. In addition to music each channel features articles and content relevant to the target audience. What really caught my attention was this posting on the jobs… [Read more…]

April 3, 2012

Yesterday I posted a story about Play-Fame.com a game where one winner each day gets 24 hours of fame with thousands of new Twitter followers. You can get the lowdown on how it all works here. My initial thought in yesterday’s post was about how important it would be to maximize your time in the spotlight… [Read more…]

If You Were Famous for 24 Hours

April 2, 2012

This new game “Twitter Fame” is a fascinating concept. Here’s how it works: Players link their Twitter account to the game through this Web page. Each day at noon one person is selected as the winner of the day. For the next 24 hours everyone who is playing will be set up to automatically follow the winner. Whatever they… [Read more…]
